Midweek music fix

This week's fix was inspired, at least in part, by a bachelor party I went on this weekend. That being said, it has alot of tracks that are danceable.

Ballad of the RAA - The Rural Alberta Advantage. I've talked about these guys on this blog alot already. I think this is the third song I've posted from them. I saw them live at Bottom of the Hill. In addition to it being a great show, the band was just really happy to be there and hung out after the show to talk to folks. As with all their songs, a great set of lyrics.

The Reeling - Passion Pit.
After the RAA show, the DJ created an instant hipster dance party by playing this song. Great times.

Sacred Trixter - Sonic Youth.
I played another song from the sonic youth album last week. This one has a nice groove to it.

Destrokk - MGMT. I think this is a new MGMT song. I like it because its alittle darker than other songs.

Daylight - Matt and Kim.
We rented a house for the bachelor party this weekend and just put some ipods on shuffle during drinking, poker, etc. This song came up a few times and I was reminded of how much I love it. Great tune.

Bull Black Nova - Wilco. This is from Wilco (the album). I just found out they're playing a show at the Riv in Chicago. The album is pretty good. This is going to end up being a great live song.

Shot to the back of the head - Moby. Moby's new album is supposed to be the come down after a night out. That makes it perfect chill out music (albeit, not great bachelor party music). Like MGMT's new song, this song seems to be a bit darker.

Get By (Remix) - Talib Kweli, Jay-Z, Mos Def, Kanye, Busta Rhymes. This is the highlight of the mix. I just discovered this remix over the weekend and I am now obsessed with it. How can you not like Jay-Z, Kanye, Mos Def, Busta and Kanye on track with Talib Kweli. Jay Z's flow is awesome on this. Hat Tip to Jack Clark.
