It ends with 2 Wilco (songs). We saw Wilco (the show) last night and its definitely my top show of 2009. The show was at the Greek Theater and we had a great view of both Nels and Jeff for the night. I'm still on a high from such a great show.
this weeks playlist:
Fisherman's son - Port O'Brien. We also saw Port O'Brien this week. While, the opening band, Still Flyin was notable for its 11 people on stage, with two percussionists, a dude that seemed to just jump around the stage and back up singers that mostly talked, Port O'Brien was awesome. The lead singer is a spot on for Kurt Cobain - complete with sandy blonde hair that covers his eyes. I went because I liked their studio stuff, but the live experience took everything to another level. Trying to find some live stuff and can't so this studio version of Fisherman's son off of last year's All We Could Do Was Sing
will have to do.
Five and Dime - Port O'Brien. Five and Dime is a single as part of a series Port O'Brien is doing where they make a single for every season. Winter
Hurt - Nine Inch Nails. Trent Rezner was on Sound Opinions recently and it was a great interview and show. I remember listening to NIN before I was even listening to Pearl Jam. It may have been pretty hate machine. They talk abit about John Cash covering Hurt and Trent says its the most personal song he's ever written.
Radio Cure - Wilco. Wilco was amazing on Saturday night. This is another Jeff Tweedy song dealing with all of his demons...yet it sounds so pretty.
You are My Face - Wilco. The more I listen to this song, the more I like it. Its becoming one of my favorite Wilco songs to hear live...the transition in the middle of the song is really bluesy. You can feel...I'm not sure what emotion that is...but you feel something in the middle when the guitar kicks in. An added bonus on Saturday was the crowd all singing, "I have no idea how this happens."
