I had a rocking good time in Austin this weekend. Although I didn't get to see any shows, it was still pretty fantastic. I had expected that when I walked off the plane, I'd be greeted with someone handing out tickets to a secret show or Austin City Limits would be at the airport. That didn't happen. But, I did discover my new favorite band.
Thanks to @ziser (you can check him out at gust funnel - I still don't know what that means) - he got me hooked on The Rural Alberta Advantage. You can check them out on on their home page or myspace page
They're sort of like Port O'Brien...but maybe abit more emo.
Rural Alberta Advantage - Don't haunt this place. I can't imagine you don't start to hear this song all over the place soon. It is ripe for an ipod commercial, or greys or, insert your favorite mainstream user of indie music. Its also a great story about a breakup.
Rural Alberta Advantage - In the summertime. A down tempo song about...love.
Passion Pit - Month's Wings. Another band that I will probably be getting into quickly is Passion Pit. They were on my 33forever top 33 of 2008 list. But, they have a new cool song out. I dig it.
Fleet Foxes - Mykynos. I saw the Fleet Floxes 2 weeks ago and thought they were amazing. This song sounds good on the album, but its amazing live. Thanks to kennykellogg for suggesting we go to the show.
Finally, abit random and intense. Thanks to the lala-pitchfork relationship. I am listening to alot of things and and finding some gems. One was this track from Sinead O'Conner. It sorta rocks and it is definitely intense. Its probably not for everyone though.
