Pearl Jam reissued Ten. I am not going to post Pearl Jam songs today. Instead, here is a link to the aol listening party for the ten reissue. The live versions are always nice, but lots of fans have already heard the excellent versions of black and oceans from unplugged. I was most excited and blown away by a few of the Brendan O'brien remixes - namely: Why Go, Breath and Brother - he seems to have captured the core of these songs. Check out the listening party before you go to the rest of the mix.
I've been catching up on the sound opinions podcasts on my ipod during the commute and they had two in studio guests that totally rocked my world: Neko Case and Frightened Rabbit. Neko Case certainly isn't new, but after hearing the podcast, I'm committed to seeing her live. While the new album is fantastic (I found it cheapest at lala.com),
Frightened Rabbit. I missed these guys in 2008. Very heart on your sleeve music. Someone complained after the Sound Opinions show that it was a Scottish version of Dashboard Confessional...fair enough. I think its really more a combination of the frames and dashboard. The album is essentially about the singer's immense depression after a breakup. And...its depressingly awesome.
