Midweek music fix

My new album of the moment: The Atlers; Hospice.
This weeks's old discovery: Uncle Tupelo; No Depression
This week's musical/concert disappointment: For the first time since 1998, I am going to miss Peal Jam in Chicago.

Release - Pearl Jam. A top 5 PJ song for me, especially with the crowd singing along at the united center. Such classic eddie with so much emotion.

Kettering - The Atlers: I have no idea what this song is about, because I can't find the lyrics, but the haunting voice and music, capture...something. I hear the story on this album (which is coming cliche) - the lead singer was in isolation for a year and came out with all these great songs. You do get the sense of longing, lonliness and isolation in the songs.

My Will Is Good - Port O'Brien. I am going to continue to post Port O'Brien songs on this blog...because they are so freaking good. The beat, rythem, voice and music are memorizing. At some point I might tire of the earnestness in all of the songs.

These are my Twister Words - Radiohead.
Radiohead has a new song! That is all.

Swimming in the Flood - Passion Pit. Another great passion pit song. This one slows it down abit, but has the same vibe and lyrics.

Two - The Antlers. Another great antlers song. Seems to be about some sort of dysfunctional relationship. I like the strummy guitar at the beginning.

Whiskey Bottle - Uncle Tupelo. For those not in the know - out of the ashes of Uncle Tupelo (the founders of alt-country), came son volt and wilco. Some great alt-country lyrics:
A long way from happiness
In a three-hour-away town
Whiskey bottle over Jesus
Not forever, just for now
Not forever, just for now

12:51 - The strokes. One of my favorite all-time lyrics: We can go and get 40s/Fuck goin to that party

State of Love and Trust - Pearl Jam. Another great PJ unplugged track. Those unplugged songs are so good.

No Depression - Uncle Tupelo.
Possibly the song that started it all. I love the double meaning here with depression. I'm goin where theres no depression/to a better land thats free from care
