Midweek music fix

Today's midweek music fix.

Lets Go Crazy - Prince.
Its the 25 Anniversary of Purple Rain. In addition to the movie setting in minneapolis and the famous First Avenue, the album is full of great pop tracks. This is one of my favorites.

Lose You - Pete Yorn. My sister-in-law visited us a few weeks ago and got me obsessed with this song. I can't believe that I wasn't listening to this song more after either a) buying the album or b) seeing him in concert a couple of years ago. I don't need a better thing/just to sound confused/don't talk about everyone/I am not amused by you

Summer Babe (Winter Version) - Pavement.
Guitars and shoegazer vibe. But also intriguing and simple lyrics. "Ive got a lot of things I want to sell, but/Not here, babe-- tortuuurreeee..."

Hi-Fi Good - Throw Me the Statue. I know almost nothing of this band. I think I downloaded this track for free off stereogum. I can't decide if its forgettable or not.

Autumn Sweater - Yo La Tengo.
If you can't tell, I've been listening to alot of early indie rock. I like the droning sound in the background (is it organ or guitar - not sure).

Crystal village - Pete Yorn. Not a rip-off of cat stevens - a rip off of wilco (I love she's a jar). Shout out to matt bender for the suggestion.

No Future - Titus Andronicus. Well, this is a classic song for me to pick if I've heard one. Loud guitars, tortured voice, hopeless lyrics. Speaking of hopeless lyrics: "so I'm saying goodbye/and no, I won't forget to write/It's just been too long racing towards a yellow light/and I know that I say this every night/but I don't think I've ever been so tired of life."

No Future Part Two: The Day After No Future - Titus Andronicus. So, this song does get a bit weird at the end - with the dude talking (I am probably about 70/30 against something like this, unless its super short or a quick answering machine message). But, it is a carryover from No Future Part I. So, I wanted to include it here.
