I'm not sure if you've heard, but there is a band called Animal Collective that makes uber-hipster and uber-eclectic music. They have a new album out that I think rocks. Paul Shirley (Iowa State alum, Author and Pro Basketball player) wrote an interesting post (tip of the hat to Bender for sending me the link) outlining his listening experience with the album. I think it rocks. But if you're having trouble loving the album on first listen, I suggest starting with
Summer Clothes - awesome beat and groove , "I want to walk around with you
My Girls - if they are releasing a single, this will likely be it - all over the blogosphere and sirius-xmu... I think they get immediate indie cred with "I don't mean to seem like i care about material things"
In the flowers - This song is a good example of the album as a whole.
Two caveats to this list:
1. This really is an album and i think its best listened to in its entirety
2. If possible, you should get the vinyl. You'll get a download code with it and the vinyl version is just so good. You need to hear this on a record player.
