Rachael Yamagata

Bender and I saw Rachael Yamagata last night at the Lakeshore Theater (if you haven't seen a show here, please do). Rachael had a few drinks and was really fun. The concert was great, but her honesty really added to the show. I am such a fan of live music because artists can't hide behind a great producer or production value. And, hopefully, you get to see them as a real person. This is especially important if you a person who cares about lyrics - like me. The best part of the show was how open, funny, self depricating and real Rachael was. She commented numerous times about how her inviting personality, invites the sorrow and heartbreak you hear her sing about in her songs. The topic of heartbreak combined with her soulful, raspy voice make for great music. And, even better to see live in an intimate setting such as the Lakeview Theater. I couldn't find anything on Youtube, but I do have a link to the NPR concert (courtesy of Matt Bender).
