The Next Big Sound

I've been working closely with a cool company called The Next Big Sound. The Next Big Sound connects unsigned artists with fans. You can hop on the sight and just stream their great selection of unsigned artists or sign up as a mogul, create a record label and "sign" up to 10 your favorite artists. Drop and add as you please. For every mogul that signs an artist after you, you'll get a mogul point. Thrillist has a great overview of the site. It was started by 4 Northwestern students. They launched the site just over a month ago and have already generated alot of interest from artists and fans.

3 reasons why this is a cool company:
1. Access to truly unsigned artists. Sure, you're not going to love every song or artist you hear, but you're also hearing music that you probably can't listen to anywhere else. Its alot easier than connecting through friends of friends on MySpace.
2. I love business models that turn convention on its head, side and inside out. This changes the model for how labels can find talent. It take the guess work out of the process. Crowdsouring, community based design, user innovation. Essentially, this concept takes the work out of finding the next big sound. It finds you.
3. Fantasy football for music. It makes a game out of finding the next big sound. I can actually have bragging rights because I discover someone before my friends...or the rest of the world.

You can check out Corduroy Records and my stable of artists. But, I suggest you get on the site and discover your next new favorite. Also, the team is constantly updating the site make for a great experience for listeners and artists. So, please feel free to send them feedback (good and bad), they'd love to hear it.
