Midweek music fix - I just bought a bunch of new albums!

So, I just bought a bunch of new albums and this week's fix reflects that.

New album I am into: The XX - XX. Dream Pop. I am currently obsessed with this album.
Classic album I am listening: My Bloody Valentine - Loveless. My Bloody Valentine essentially created the shoegazer genre with this album.
Concert News: I'm going to see the yeah yeah yeahs and yacht with Scott Orn tomorrow night. We've already seen jenny lewis and neko case together since I've moved out to SF. It only makes sense that we add Karen O to our tour of indie rock girls.

Shapeshifter - The Last Tide. The Last Tide just wrapped up their debut EP. They are touring the DC area and east coast. They also rock. I suggest getting on board with this band before everyone discovers them at some festival next spring or stereogum or brooklyn vegan write up a reviews. You can check out their myspace page for songs from the EP and tour dates.

Only Shallow - My Bloody Valentine. I picked up this vinyl at Amoeba Music last weekend and have been playing it non-stop. I love when the drums kick into the noise. The mp3s are really cheap on amazon right now, you can buy the Loveless
on amazon for under $7.

Stars - The XX. I am currently obsessed with this album and more specifically, this song. I've listened to the song no less than 15 times since i bought the record. I think this song is thinking about a relationship on the first date.

Love Hearts Spark Fire - The Japandroids. I also bought the Japandroids album on vinyl this weekend. This is a great indie punk album. its fast and loud. And great lyrics. I don't wanna worry about dying/I just wanna worry about the sunshine girls

Psychic City - YACHT. These guys are opening for the yeah yeah yeahs tomorrow - I'm sorta excited about seeing them; although the fox theater is abit too large of a venue to seem a small band like this, i think the acoustics will suit them well. Im also curious to see their stage presence with so much space to fill. I like the light groove of this songs. I can see myself maybe tapping a foot and bouncing my head to this song.

The Ruminant Band - Fruit Bats. The fruit bats appear to be all the rage. I bought the vinyl version of this album without hearing it first based on a recommendation from a friend (I almost never buy before listening first anymore). Not disappointed. The entire album is great and the sort of album you can put on and just play the whole way through.

Zero - The yeah yeah yeahs. Super psyched to see the yeah yeah yeahs tomorrow night. I've never seen them before and I am expecting it to be a good show.

Last Dance - The Raveonettes. I continue to become a bigger fan of these guys. Their last album, lust lust lust was ridiculous (and featured two songs on the 33forever Top 33 of 2008. They have a new album coming out and will be playing a show in san francisco in november. This is another great song of theirs.
